Saint Barbara finished....

At last, we're on the final patina. The extras show the boys torching Barbara to open the pores and receive the different chemicals. Each chemical turns the metal a specific color and it is controlled by the heat of the torches. Ferric nitrate creates the browns on the flesh, girdle and sword; cupric gives us the green skirt and cadmium the white blouse. The colors are more transparent than the photo shows so it's more subtle.
