Diary of an Edinburgher

He made it!

Another most pleasant, almost muzak-free breakfast. One of the staff actually turned it down, and I called across to her 'Thank you!' She agreed it was awful. In fact, the beautiful bar area (see extra) was silent this morning too - when I looked in yesterday as I took the dog out at 8am, 'Glad All Over' by the Dave Clark Five was blasting out into the empty room.

We checked out and drove down to Lake Derwentwater and joined the first cruise of the morning around the lake - only a few folk on it. Archie seemed to be enjoying being on a boat. But then we set off... still, it could have been worse, Arch - a whole crowd of noisy children boarded as we disembarked back at the beginning again 50 minutes later.

We took the scenic drive back along Ullswater before joining the motorway at Penrith, stopping several times on the journey home - sometimes just to stretch Archie's legs.

We headed up Blackford Hill first, and Archie is happy to be home after his long ordeal today. He's playing vigorously with his toys after having had his tea. And guess what - he made it without being sick!! Has he turned a corner? There were certainly plenty of them...
