Today's the day ........................... to live it up

Readers of this journal will know how much we like a good castle - and when we came to Gwydir in July last year, it was most definitely one of those.

How wonderful then, to find myself spending two nights here (an early birthday present) - in The King's Room  no less.  There's a proper four-poster bed, original oil paintings on the walls - and the occasional cry of a peacock from the lawn outside.  Breakfast tomorrow will be the 17th century, wood-panelled dining room.

Just hope we don't have a ghostly visit in the night.  Gwydir has a reputation for being one of the most haunted houses in Wales .....................
