Lake Rotoroa
This afternoon we took a trip out to Lake Rotoroa, about 40 minutes drive north of Murchison. Lake Rotoroa, situated in the Nelson Lakes National Park, is well known for its Trout fishing and tramping around the lake and the near by mountains. Lake Rotoroa Lodge is an exclusive lodge open for the trout season from October to April. Rates to stay in this lodge start from $380 per night (double/twin), and I've heard that quite a few famous people come and stay there, especially to go on guided fishing tours.
It was only 5 degrees down at the lake, and there weren't many people around - a jet boat had just left the jetty, and headed towards the head of the lake. There was also a family of swans - 2 adults and 2 cignets - on the lake, and one of them was very happy to pose for me.
