Blossom Time

I made it away from the street scene tulips today to the blossom which this time of year provides a colourful welcome to the Hampshire town of Romsey.
It’s such a glorious display of blossom that provides a perfect introduction to specially prepared roundabouts and planters in the town centre. And if past years are anything to go by, an abundance of hanging baskets as well.
Shame that the blossom will not last many weeks, and already the grass area beneath the trees is carpeted in fallen blossom. At one time the town’s main bypass was lined with trees of alternate pink and white blossom.  Magnificent.
This tree, and those with it line the main approach road from Southampton near the town’s Rapids health and  leisure complex, and sports fields, and though their blossom is totally white, it’s an eye catching introduction to the town.

Today, in the afternoon sun, it was dazzling, and well worth the special trip I made to savour it.
