Across the Loch
Apothecary7's first day in her new job.
Maeve the Deerhound and I were by ourselves again.
After lunch we went for our walk. Runrig on the Nano (The Story).
We crossed the road and made our way across the park to the esplanade then walked round past the marina to the two quays of the harbour. The old quay is where the fishing boats and the lifeboat berth, and the new quay is for bigger ships and the has the ferry terminal (a ferry runs to and from Ardrossan on the Ayrshire coast from the end of April to the end of September). At the new quay today we saw the ship Arctic Rock, and on the quay beside her several sections of wind turbine.
We carried on round the shore of Campbeltown Loch where there is another little park, then carried on out Kilkerran Road for a short distance. I sat at a picnic table for a few minutes and watched a fishing boat come through the channel past Davaar Island and make its way across the loch to the harbour.
We came back along the other side of the park, from where we could see the flashing lights of heavy haulage vehicles and their escorts on the new quay. Either taking the sections of turbine away or bringing more. I didn't stay to find out which. We continued along one of the roads into town emerging on Main Street opposite the Town Hall which is almost ready to open after a restoration project. We had a bit of an explore along one or two roads to see if we could find what appeared to be a path which we can see from the back windows of our house. I found the path. It seems to run between two fields on the slope of a hill at the back of town. I couldn't make out where it might lead to, so I left exploring it for another day and we made our way back towards Main Street and cut along Glebe Street which runs parallel to the road where we live and went back home that way. We were out walking for not much over an hour. Enough for today.
