Waiting for the Train
On the first of my three trips down the line today we were waiting at Quarry Siding for an up train. The Talyllyn is a single track line, built in the 1860's to carry slate from the mountain quarries to the coastal mainline railway. For much of it's life there was no need for passing places but today there are several to allow flexible running for the passenger service. We arrived at the passing loop first, allowing me the chance to find a good lookout place. You can see that here in the hills, the railway runs on a ledge overlooking the valley affording beautiful views - see yesterdays extra pics :-)
