The one that got away

We had a late night last night, so needed a lie in this morning!

The weather is grey and drizzly, but not the torrential rain we had expected, so it didn't spoil our plans for the day.

We took a short drive to a place called Dunskey Gardens; it was deserted! The gardens were lovely, even if there wasn't much in bloom at the moment. There was also a woodland walk which took us around 2 little lochs.

As we arrived at the second loch, we saw this guy getting in the boat and watched him row out and set up for fishing.
He'd only been there about 5 minutes when he got a bite; I think I was more excited than him!
He slowly and carefully reeled it in, we could see whatever it was splashing about as it neared the surface. Just as he was about to lift it clear of the water, his line broke!
Gutted.

We watched him a little while longer; it was a lovely place to sit and so peaceful with only the sound of the water lapping and birds singing, before walking back to the cafe for a much needed coffee.

This afternoon, we had a stroll around Portpatrick (not that there's much to see) and watched the second half of the United vs Leicester game.

Tonight we will have our last meal (& drinks) in town before we have to pack up and return home tomorrow.
