A Red Letter Day
Here you see what is left of The Queen's Pier in Ramsey.
Over the years this pier has gradually fallen in to dis-repair. I can recall using it in the late 1970's to go fishing with my son. There used to be a wonderful miniature train that ran its length, to the delight of visitors.
After many years of delay by our esteemed government and who have done the minimum to keep it standing, today was the day when the keys were handed over to a new charity who aim to restore it to its former glory.
There were about two or three hundred people attending the event.
There is much more about the history of the old pier here:

What was particularly pleasing about the event was the complete absence of political speeches and the determination to get on with the job and overcome the obstacles that have been put in the way.
