RIP St James Centre

The centre, a carbuncle in the centre of Edinburgh closes for the last time this month. It opened in the early 1970s and had the Scottish Office building of New St Andrews House as part of the complex. It has always been unpopular as a building although it is a really popular shipping mall in spite of that.
The building is already shrouded in scaffolding and netting prior to demolition and the site's redevelopment as an up-market shipping complex.
John Lewis is on the edge of the site and is going to stay open throughout, entrance will only be from Leith Street though and without the carpark and other shops pulling people into the area I do wonder how they will fare.
The new centre is due to open in 2020 and has at its centre a large hotel of an extremely modern design which has already got people's backs up at its size and unsympathetic design.
Many shops have already closed and the centre has a neglected feel to it already. Extra pic is of the inside which is normally bustling with people.
