Blue-cheeked Bee-eater (Merops persicus)
A new bird in two ways-it is definitely a very young bird and this is a bird visiting Oman during migration. I'm a little confused about this one's plumage though, as they are supposed to have yellow on the throat and then a bit of orange, this one has the yellow but then feathers of a darker blue. Anyway a beautiful bird to grace our satellite cables and there are four of them! I'm so happy I was all for throwing in the towel and admitting defeat with the heat, but now I have beautiful new birds in the garden to study and who was in the garden yesterday evening-a little Owl! Fantastic!
