Les Arènes de Nîmes

Today a visit to Nîmes and its Roman amphitheatre. It was great to clamber up to vertiginous heights and look back down over the arena and, in the other direction, out over the rooftops. Did you know that denim comes from Nîmes (de Nîmes)?

It was 'change of hotel' day, as we travelled from Albi to Aixe-en-Provence, stopping en route for several hours in Nîmes for lunch, the amphitheatre, la Maison Carrée, the cathedral and a wander through the streets enjoying the sunshine and eating ice creams! :) Definitely got that 'on holiday' feel!
