A night at the opera

Das Rheingold

So yesterday evening L and I enjoyed Opera 1, of the Wagner Ring Cycle. A gentle opener of 2:30hrs. Arriving at Leeds Town Hall to see 6 harps stage right caused a mild flutter this was to be an epic. It was bravo, bravo !! And back again today for a 5 hour shift.
It's all new to me, but Ill gotten hoards of gold, forged by dwarves in the mountain into a ring of power that bring misery and madness to the bearer, sounds a little familiar, and even a dragon tonight.
Oh and the usual operatic nonsense of the boys not doing what the girls say is the right thing and it all ending dreadfully, power corrupting totally and sung loudly, beautifully, tragically and long.
