Mom and pup

Hung out in the dory watching this pair for awhile today. They were not intimidated by me and didn't move. They were the only 2 Harbour seals on the rocks across the bay. What you can see in this picture is both of them molting. The moms molt their fur after they give birth or every summer. but this little one? Not sure, but he's clearly molting too. They usually molt before or just after birth and then not for a year. They haul out on the rocks to be warm. They can live to be 25 years old.

Turned into a very nice afternoon after grey skies. Our friends worked on their boat (that's what boaters do...!) we did some chores and we had another great dinner with good conversation. And now the sun is down .......good night!
