Where are they all ?

By now there are usually lots of butterflies, particularly when it's sunny and fairly warm.  I went to Pipe Hall Farm Woodland Trust reserve, where I have always seen so many, but there were hardly any to be found.

A couple of large whites, fluttering in the blossom but not pausing. A brimstone that headed off over the trees. And this Speckled Wood, which was hiding on the brown ground and I was lucky to spot him. He moved to a leaf and posed. Thank you.

My extra photo is someone else who was enjoying the sunshine.
