The Green Man
We finally made it out after a staggered get up by my visitors, a breakfast of pancakes, waffles, blueberries and clotted cream, and a lot of faffing by me getting my stuff together!there was also a lot of debate over whether stanley should put another wet dressing on his knee which was oozing greenish yellow unctuous fluid! He phoned his mum who is a nurse and she said cover it and the liquid would help form new skin, we all thought it should be open to dry! Friend had told me about The green man festival at Mount Edgecombe so we decided to visit it as he would be "presiding over the Kernow Levy of long bow archers, a heavy horse team, 18th century woodsmen, willow weavers, a falconer and a charcoal maker alongside traditional English fair activities, children’s activities, beer tents, hog roasts, traders and music." What was not to like!
It was a gorgeous sunny day but as we neared the coast sea mist began to drift across the landscape - very atmospheric! We arrived and the fun commenced! There were more pirates than you could have fit on a pirate ship! They were the Pirates of St Piran singing sea shanties and a few other rather peculiar songs such as "Day-O!" We gathered a lunch from the variety of food stalls and some drink and sat by the beach listening to them all. We all spilt our drinks when with no warning they began to fire their canons! Look for the dog having it's ears covered in this photo! Stanley had fun skimming pebbles then we walked along the beach and up through the grounds of the house before heading home. I cooked dinner of Poached Rhubarb and Goats cheese and we opened my Birthday Champagne. Stanley's knee began to ooze fluid quite spectacularly and I had a good squish of the spectacularly full wet dressing! He put more dry plasters around it and off we went to Party Girls house for Strawberry Daiquiris! Much later we walked home and fell into bed!
Whole day here!
