Diary of an Edinburgher

Waffling!

What a grand day out, complete with cocktails and waffles. We were getting very hot and bothered by the time we got to our destination, 52 Canoes Tiki Den (the South Pacific connection being an Aussie owner). For one thing, Google maps struck again - the address was COMPLETELY WRONG! How can they do this? The waiter explained that they had complained to Google, but they have been ignored.

We were also hot and bothered because it was the hottest day so far! Really warm.

What a quirky wee place it is. Quite charmingly odd. Cocktails were served in skull shaped mugs, and our (voucher) menu was waffles. Savoury waffles - pulled pork, chicken, fish, or roast peppers and cheese. The meals were large and tasty.

Archie spent his time staring under a nearby cupboard, where he spotted something that should not have been there and was very disturbing to him. Fortunately Rufus's mum kindly got down on her knees and fished out the various sachets of tomato sauce, so that Archie could relax.

On the way home we walked through the Meadows. This was fraught with challenges - loads of folk enjoying picnics in the sun. Therefore loads of possible food, or even some open handbags to look in. In fact, he came upon a pig's trotter! Three chaps had it for their collie, who wasn't interested in it. Archie most definitely was. He'd never seen one of those before. Fortunately, I spotted it at the same time as him, and as he made a lunge for it, I made a lunge for him. Otherwise he would have been off over the Meadows with his prize and we wouldn't see have seen him for dust.

Back to relax and watch the tennis. Except it's still raining in Paris. It's not often we win over Paris in the weather stakes. Enjoy it.
