Diary of an Edinburgher

Beach!

Archie and I were at the beach early today. The chap in the tractor was still tidying the place for us.

We were the first footprints on the beautifully manicured sand. There was no wind, though cloudy - I knew the sun would break through, it just took longer than anticipated.

We met my pal Betty and her big old dog, Joe, coming along to meet us, and walked back to her house for breakfast tea and croissants. Betty has not been well for a while, and is still a bit weak, so isn't walking far. She has many friends who pop in and take Joe for walks along the beach.

I walked back along on the prom this time - easier for me to walk there - and arrived at the caravan about the same time as Bailey and her mum. Time for a second breakfast - a bacon bap. And a liver muffin for the dogs.

By this time, the sea breeze had become rather more of a sea breeze than was comfortable for me, as I didn't bring my hat (against JR's advice, of course) and my head was beginning to feel cold. As I'd already walked along the beach twice Janet (who was sensibly dressed for a possible sea breeze) took the dogs along the beach again (Archie was splashing about in the sea) while I retired to the pub to relax out of the breeze with a half pint and a book that Betty gave me.

Then the sun came out just as JR finished work and came to take us home. The beach was filling up with - yes - crazy people sunbathing.

We were back just in time for Murray's tennis match, which, once I knew it was in the bag (and it was a bit tense for a couple of sets) I dozed off and missed the end.

Today's shot reminded me of this one. It's a pretty good job on days like this.
