Welcome to the Copper Country!

The first long summer weekend was celebrated in the
Copper Country of Michigan.  My husband was born
on this homestead, and I have been visiting the area
for 50 plus years.  The land curves around Lake Superior
and is basically a wilderness where nature has reclaimed
a once-thriving copper mining industry with only 'ghost
towns' to prove its existence.  The population that remains
are tough and hardy, like living in near-wilderness and have
a keen sense of the natural beauty of the area.  The winters
are long with deep snows; but no season is without its
beauties.

I will begin this series with a photo of wild apple blossoms
sending forth their isolated beauty in a a tangle of forest growth
that has reclaimed the once-cleared land.
