Ruby-throated Hummingbird

We went to Quabbin Park this morning with David, the ornithologist who follows my blips and comments by email. We didn't range far, spending most of the time at a pullout with an ampitheater-like overlook--although inevitably, the best images (as here) are from relative close-up.  Rubythroats are the only hummingbirds regularly in the East; it was good to see this one in the wild rather than around a feeder as one most often does.  The singing indigo bunting (his tongue is visible) is not as richly plumaged as this one from the same spot two years ago. The Eastern tiger swallowtail is probably a female (note the bits of blue at the base of the tail).  A lovely morning--warm, but less humid than the past few days
