Glow Cloud
It would be easy to write this image off as an orange monotone or as a conventional dusty afterglow sky. It isn't really either of those things.
We'd had a nice fine morning but by mid afternoon, at Lithgow, the sky had become dramatically stormy - albeit without me having access to a functioning camera. My normally trusty G12 had a flat battery because its idiot owner hadn't recharged it when he should have.
By late afternoon there was a slight crack (near the horizon) exposing a naked sun in an otherwise featureless, overcast sky. With very little preamble, the light striking the clouds (obviously having reached some ideal angle) seemed to create a kind of translucent lampshade effect. I got this one shot in before it began to rain.
