A change of scenery
We were devastated to learn of the UK election when we woke up on the morning of our getaway weekend. We've been so busy with family responsibilities that we've had little time together, and this was our planned escape. First we had to sit with our anxieties and our worry, send a few comments to our good friends on Blip. Then we set out--on a day that would have been perfect had it not begun with such bad news. What will it mean?
This is the nearby high desert I was telling Martin Dawe about. Two hours and you leave the evergreens and the rain forest to find yourself in these high dry rolling hills. The Extra was taken inside Maryhill Museum, a monument to the unlikely friendship of Loie Fuller, Sam Hill, and the Queen of Romania--as ill-sorted a group of friends as you could find in the world, and yet they hatched a wild dream, made it come true, and lived to enjoy it.
