An ordinary life....

Concrete Bath...

It's been like the Marie Celeste here today, both inside the house and outside.

David was up early to get Alan ready for his hospital appointment. I waved them off just after 7am.  I had everything crossed that things would go according to plan, unlike last Wednesday.

David texted me just after 8am to say they were in a ward with three ladies and Alan had them wrapped around his finger.  What a floozie he is!   He was taken to theatre just after 9am and David texted at 11.30 to say he was on his way back to the ward.  It was just a 20 minute procedure so he'd been in recovery for the rest of the time.

I got a photo texted at 11.45am of a very groggy looking lad lying in bed,  however the next photo sent at 2.00pm shows a much cheerier Alan, who had insisted he sit in his chair rather than lie in bed, as he couldn't see the ladies he'd been charming earlier from his bed!

I have spent the afternoon on tenterhooks awaiting updates to see if he would get home tonight (as well as being on tenterhooks watching the Federer match and now the Murray match!!!) then David texted me at 5 to say he hoped to get away from the ward between 6.30 and 7pm.

Alan is tired and a bit sore but has wants his potatoes ready for him coming home.  Yes Sir!  :-)))

So far he's had water and medicine via his new gastrostomy tube and all seems well so far.   District Nurse will be in tomorrow or Friday to remove the 4 stitches.  We will find out in the morning when the hospital confirm.

So, phew, it is done at last.  The next 10 days or so may be a bit difficult till the healing really starts to take hold but hopefully with the pain relief, he won't be in too much pain.

Once again I am astounded by my boy's fortitude and good humour in times of pain and stress.  He really is my hero.

I had a quick wander out to look at the pool progress this morning before the rain came on.  The pool specialists were only here for a short while today delivering supplies.  I am assuming they will be back tomorrow to continue.   The pool looks like a concrete bath, which I suppose at the moment it is!  It will get more attractive as time goes on.  I hope!   :-))

Oooo think I can hear the car in the drive.  Need to go, I am desperate to give Alan a hug!  :-))
