Red Borders, Hidcote Manor Gardens
This afternoon we visited Hidcote Manor, a National Trust property about 3 miles from where we're staying. It was gifted to the Trust in 1948 by an American called Lawrence Johnston who had painstakingly developed the gorgeous gardens over many years. It was a beautiful day and we took lots of photos - this is my favourite. The tiny image of the bloke standing in the gateway was pure serendipity, I only noticed him when I transferred the photos to the computer!
The extra is a view of the town of Chipping Campden, taken from a short circular walk which we did this morning on this end of the Cotswold Way. This is a trail which leads all the way from Chipping Campden to Bath - a distance of 100 miles...but we only did about 4 1/2 miles today; maybe we'll do more of it one day ;-))
