Little Shag

Another bird today, and this time it is a shag.  This one is the smallest shag in New Zealand and known as ‘Little Shag’ or Little Pied Cormorant – Maori name Kawaupaka.

The plumage varies from all black to pied but the little shag can be identified by it's short stubbly yellow bill, brown eyes and black feet.
