a new year!

gold rush and the day we went to the Olympics!

ok, ok so maybe many think that football shouldn't be in the Olympics, but nevertheless it is. and when my Blip album for 2012 is uncovered in 100 years time, my families, childrens, childrens, children, will see that me, Greg, and Alex (and Greg's best mate Matt) attended an Olympic footy match...well two actually!

a truly memorable day really. busy busy at work, and in between meetings early morning, some of us crowd round the tele in reception to witness our first Olympic gold medal win, for the rowing pairs (Helen Glover & Heather Stanning).

i had a meeting in the afternoon, then had to dash off at 3pm tp pick up Alex, Greg & Matt (he's 18 today too!!) for our trip to the City of Coventry Stadium, to watch Honduras v Japan, and Senegal v UAE.

bit of a nightmare journey (ended up dropping G & M off to ensure they saw the whole of the first match). me and alex got to the stadium in time to see the last minute of the first half. as we got to the stadium we found out that Bradley Wiggins wins gold in the cycling!! arise Sir Bradley Wiggins, i predict!

fantastic atmosphere. the japanese fans sang and banged drums continually, with the rest of the North block joining in! both Honduras and Japan go through to the knockout stage, and this is a pic of the Honduran keeper celebrating at the end.

end of match one and downside was the 40 minute queue for food, only to be told they'd ran out! (and then again at half time in the next match!)

Senegal v UAE was a cracking match, Senegal should've won, but the draw enough to take them through.

Prince was the perfect seating companion. he's 10, and i'm 41, and we have such amazing conversations!!!

journey home started off as tedious....hate queues and queuing, but after 1hr 15 mins, we were finally on our way back. top day, medals galore, and finally Happy 18th birthday to Matt B!!
