Windswept and Interesting

To say it was windy this morning would be an understatement.  As we set of homeward we took a short detour to see this impressive bridge after Rainie alerted me to it in her comment yesterday.  It is the Te Rewa Rewa walking cycle/bridge.  The wind was blasting in from the ocean and the forester held my hand as we crossed it for stability reasons rather than romantic ones.  It is an extension to the coastal walkway so people can run, walk, cycle, or skateboard for nearly 13km along the sea edge.  The bridge is a 70m steel arch span.  Its form is to represent the relationship between the land, sea, wind and the people.  The ribs are bending away from the prevailing wind.  It is aligned to Mt Taranaki and on a clear day the mountain is framed within the arch.  Wouldn't that be an impressive blip. 
The extras are the forester on the bridge for scale and the bridge from further along the walkway.  
A super little trip away and tomorrow the work routine resumes.
