Our sick harrier hawk
This is the gorgeous girl I blipped yesterday. She has serious lead poisoning. Lead poisoning occurs accumulatively. She has probably eaten maybe something that had been shot, poisoned etc. This time of year it is usually juveniles(last season's babies), who are looking for quick feed off the road. This is why they get clipped by vehicles, and also can end up being poisoned. Poisoning affects them neurologically. This lovely girl has no use of her feet. It is getting better, but is slow. She has difficulty feeding herself as they usually hold food with their feet. We are having to cut up her food. This image shows her difficulty in eating....She took this off me before I could cut it up. You can also see her sitting back on her hocks....Feet aren't working. With daily physio they are slowly getting better.
