2016 Wednesday -- Son-in-law

We got a call yesterday from our son-in-law to tell us he had work meetings in Santa Barbara today and that he would come on up to Cayucos afterward if we would be available. We were thrilled.

So at 3:30ish today John arrived. He's not been here since we started the upstairs remodel construction last September. We showed him all the upgrades and told a few construction stories. Then we ate dinner, put the leashes on the pups, and took a long walk on the beach.

Our daughter left our son-in-law four years ago. They have remained friends, but have recently decided to make it permanent with a divorce. That certainly would not be our choice, but we were not part of the decision making. Their two adult kids, our grandkids, have experienced a multitude of emotions.

Our son-in-law is like a son to us. It was good to spend time with him.
