So, it seems the ice (cream) coffee isn't just a Salzburg phenomenon woo hoo - and here they add chocolate swirly sticks (sorry, I had started demolishing it slightly before I took the picture!).

"Here" is Linz. Arrived early afternoon on the slow train from Salzburg, then took the tram, which is actually part underground, part overground to the hotel. It's an Ibis mid range hotel, and all it's lacking is air con - there's a fan in the room so i'll see how that goes (thank goodness I'm not in 40 degree southern Italy!). It's got everything else though - chocolate wafer biscuits in the room :-), a bed so big that when I lay down I can't reach the sides, free tea coffee and water in reception, breakfast included and free WiFi. Oh, and there's A POOL!! Unfortunately it's currently populated by a German child who seems incapable of speaking at less than a million decibels... But I sat for a while when I got here with my legs dangling in the (v cold!) water for a while, and now I'm in the lovely warm shade, doing as Bananamuffin suggested - relishing the fact that I'm not at work :-)

I'll have a look at the city tourist map tonight - the hotels all seem to have them, which is useful - and if there's nothing that really grabs me then I may just stay here!
