Hawthorn Ridge, Auchonvilliers, Somme

Finlay and I spent the day visiting several sites around the Somme battlefield. We are here as tomorrow is the centenary of the death of my Great Uncle, John Munro, killed during the Battle of Pozieres. John was a Lance Corporal in the Cameron Highlanders. John has no known grave and is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme.
