Barcelona
Barcelona...where the Olympics was hosted in 1992 - the first one where South Africa was allowed to compete in since 1960 due to their suspension for its apartheid policy - and memorable to me for that fabulous song 'Barcelona' sung by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé - what a great song that was.
We arrived early this morning, and went straight to our hotel which is situated high up on mount Monjuic with panoramic views over the port and city. As we had missed breakfast we had an early lunch and then Gavin and I went for a walk but it was so hot we came straight back to the hotel. Much later, when we thought it was a bit cooler, the boys went off to the gym and Gavin and I walked down the hill and found a place where we could rent electric bikes (extra photo) We had a wonderful hour cycling all over the beach front area. It was very busy, the beach was still crowded at 6pm. We were here two years ago when we did a sailing holiday, and it was interesting to see the developments to the Port Vell area. I have an added an extra photo of a fisherman at Port Vell.
This is taken on the terrace in front of the hotel, and shows the cable car that runs down to the port.
