The Kelpies, Falkirk, Scotland
Our second day in Scotland started quite late but by lunchtime we headed off to see the renowned sights of the Falkirk wheel and the Kelpies. Helena had been there last year and wanted us to go again. We were blessed with gorgeous sunshine and a deep blue sky with few clouds. It was busy with other tourists but never overwhelming. We had a snack lunch at the Falkirk Wheel where we watched the amazing sight of boats being switched between the different levels of the two canals.
Then we headed just a few miles away to another canal side site where The Kelpies reside. They have been much blipped so I won’t go on about them, but when finally approaching them on foot they didn’t fail to inspire admiration. The bright light was a bit difficult to cope with when taking pictures so they appear rathe bright in the landscape. I took rather too many pictures so have only added a second view as an ‘Extra photo’.
By late tea time we headed off again to our next destination wit one of Helena’s school friends, who also happens to blip as Helpix. We arrived early in the evening to a delightful welcome from H. and A., her husband, and before long we'd had a short tour of her wonderful vegetable garden and polytunnel to forage for food for supper. I am so envious and rather in awe of all H. has achieved there in such a short time. It puts my feeble efforts to shame.
A fine evening of nattering over dinner whilst catching up on our individual personal stories with lots of laughter leading us into the early hours, followed by a fine sleep in their beautiful home.
