Day Four - Centro Historico

The sun came out for us today!!

After another lovely breakfast in the hostel, we packed up our stuff to move to one of the dorms - one of the side effects of the delayed flight saga! The dorm was one of the nicest I've seen anywhere, with huge beds and black out curtains around each bunk, well done Kokopelli!

We then caught a taxi to the historical centre of Lima, and were dropped off in the main square, Plaza de Armes. We took some typical touristy selfies - much to Brendan's dismay - outside the Basilica Catedral de Lima. We then took a short walk up to the Museo de la Iglesias y Convento San Francisco, one of Lima's earliest colonial churches, with an underground catacomb, the site of up to 70,000 burials. They had an English tour guide for this museum, which was a lot more informative for us!

After the tour, we left the cathedral and walked back towards the main square where we had lunch listening to a brass band playing fantastic Peruvian music on the street, this was quite something!

After a few attempts, we caught a taxi back to the hostel to have a nap (of course!) We planned to go to Barranco again this evening, but again didn't quite make it, so had to make do with an amazing BBQed pizza and a couple of pisco sours in the hostel bar. The pizza was lovely, the sours not quite to my taste - too much of a tequila aftertaste for me!

A lovely end to an interesting couple of days in Lima. Next stop, Huaraz!
