Relatively calm Saturday!
Mom and I had a bit of a shock on Friday morning. The doorbell went while we were watching Jeremy Kyle (by accident of course). I thought it must be Tesco Man so we ran down to open the door. Not only was it Tesco Man but it was 4 relations from Killarney too! That was one hell of a delivery; not one you could hand back to the driver like an unwanted substitution either.
Seriously, once we'd got over the shock it was lovely. They stayed for a chat and loads of tea etc before they went off to their hotel and then out exploring for the day, having never set foot in Scotland before. We arranged to meet them on Saturday night for a few jars. Well, mom wanted to chat with my auntie and as for my three cousins and I, we knew we'd enjoy a drink.
Pictured are Betty and Michael who are my two youngest cousins from Killarney. Betty (who now prefers to be called Liz) actually lives in Luton but you'd never know it. She is the same age as me. Michael is a bit younger at 34ish and works in the German Lieber factory in Killarney where his dad (John Courtney) spent his working life. Ann, the eldest sibling who teaches at Tralee Regional College was also there along with my mom and her sister. I used to spend holidays in Killarney a lot as a child, but I don't know them well these days. It was good to see them though. Michael and Ann thought it was a good thing to look after their mother and bring her over to see her sister before her health deteriorated.
Betty had come up from Luton for dad's funeral a few months ago but needless to say, we weren't in the mood for wakes or anything then.
I'll say no more. The lists are endless!
Track? Anything involving Ireland has to involve my personal favourite all time rock band as far as I am concerned!
