Captain Cook meets Heartbeat
Whitby backblip 2
Up early, and by 11.00am we'd set up our stall at the Craft Fair in the Leisure Centre ready for the doors to open! After a while MrM drove the car back to the camp site and sat outside with Louie for a couple of hours, while I 'manned' the stall.
It takes a while to adjust to spending a day in the confines of the Leisure Centre as there are no windows, so when MrM returned, Denny (who runs another stall together with her partner) and I went out for 20 mins to get some fresh air. By the Captain Cook monument we passed this small display of vintage vehicles, including the police car used in the TV series Heartbeat.
This is one of many attractions on West Cliff, along the pier and around the town for Whitby Regatta - bizarrely, very few of them, or the events associated with the regatta weekend, seem to have anything to do with ships or boats! Though huge numbers of people seem to flock to Whitby during the weekend - presumably lured by the fairground rides, fish & chips and slot machines.
To Sands End for a walk on the beach with Louie in the evening, then back to the campsite. Played Scrabble after we'd eaten - both too tired to contemplate walking into Whitby...
