London!!

So today was crazy.... the first thing Katie said was "IT'S SATURDAY!!! LONDON!!!!!" Today we were driving to London. We set off after a good time practising. She travelled well, which was good after the bad trips recently. We stopped for lunch and even after that she still wasn't poorly.

I parked up in Watford at the tube station so we could head straight into the city. We went to Trafalgar Square to revisit the Team GB dream jar. We stopped at Marylebone Station to their dream jar on the way. Katie was desperate to go back to the National Gallery, so we went there. She wanted to see the Monets again and the Van Gogh works. She loves the waterlillies and was sad that they were away at the moment but today she decided she likes the Irises by Monet. We had some time on Trafalgar Square before we walked to Westminster for some more dream jars. We walked to Victoria and then headed to Sloane Square to the Saatchi gallery. She liked the Rolling Stone lips that are outside.

We then got the tube to the Royal Albert Hall for the big event of the day. The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra were playing and we were going to see our friend in it. We met for coffee before she had half an hour playing in Kensington Gardens. Our seats were a bit disappointing but she loved the Magic Flute still. The second piece was a modern work and she was fascinated by the stunning soprano. At the interval we popped to the Stage Door to say hi to A, which fascinated Katie. Thankfully, the very kind stewards let us go up to the gallery for the second half and we had an incredible view. Tchaikovsky's 4th symphony was stunning. The conductor had such incredible energy. She did the whole thing from memory and was mesmorising. Katie lasted all but ten minutes of it. She earnt her stripes as a real prommer, having a snooze on the floor of the gallery. It was incredible.

We got the tube back to Watford, both of us having a sleep on the longest train. We made it back to the car by 11:30pm and were home a few hours later, after a couple of stops for a nap for me.

What a day!!
