Day Twelve - Huaraz to Huanchaco

We were up early this morning for our free breakfast in our lovely new hostel. We had fried eggs with bread which seems to taste so much better over here! And some more exotic fruit juice which I can't place again!!

We checked out of the hostel (after issues with card machines!) and walked to the bus stop for our next long haul bus to Trujillo. It was a pretty uneventful bus, I slept most of the way, waking up for some chicken lunch, which again was good!

We arrived in Trujillo expecting a taxi waiting for us which we couldn't find, so haggled with a cheeky driver trying to charge us three times as much outside the bus station!

We got into Huanchaco just as the sun was setting which was quite beautiful. Our hostel was pretty cool, but again, very quiet and empty which was a shame! It seems like a bit of a strange place here, you don't feel too safe at night walking around.

We opted to eat in the hostel tonight, so we asked the chef for room service (the look she gave us you'd have though we'd asked her to go and slaughter the meat for us!) she responded with a pause and then 'yes'.b She looked even less impressed when she brought it up to us, but it still tasted really good! Brendan got a cheap bottle of beer, and for lack of anything else, I got a whole bottle of white wine!!!

We settled down on the bed in the hope of catching up with The Great British Bake Off - which we succeeded in finding! So finished off the night with good food, good drink and the bake off! Perfection!
