Day Thirteen - Huanchaco
We woke up to a slightly overcast Huanchaco, which didn't improve our moods about the weather and warmth! We were annoyed at ourselves by our poor timing of when was best to come to certain areas of South America, so decided to look at booking our bus to take us all the way up through Peru into Ecuador and into Guayaquil.
Once this bus was booked, we showered, dressed and headed into Huanchaco to the Chocolate Cafe for breakfast. The cloud broke, the sun peeked through and we saw how pretty the seafront in Huanchaco actually was! Breakfast/lunch was really good, I had some shrimp spring roll type things with guacamole and mayonnaise and a banana milk shake. I think I've finally become the girl to make Brendan want to share food too, which is quite an accomplishment!
We sat in the sun for a bit, and then wandered back through town to our hostel. It had an amazing terrace on our floor where we could sit out and see the ocean, so we got our books, slapped on the sun cream and sat with the remainder of the bottle of wine planning the next week of our trip. We sorted out Guayaquil, Cuenca and getting up to the beach of Montanita. I face timed home, a bit more perky than I had been the night before and showed them around our (practically!) private hostel!!
We went down at 6ish to watch the sunset which was really awesome. The fog that hangs along the coast of Peru was somewhat subsided so we watched at the sun went into the fog on the horizon and then behind the sea, lighting all the wispy clouds up a beautiful pinky orange!
We'd checked out a few places for dinner and decided to head to a place called El Sombrero. It was again, very quiet, but overlooked the sea. It was okay, although potentially a bit overdone, however the wine was good and the atmosphere was nice.
We taxied back to our hostel (the taxi man definitely driving the wrong way down the one way system!!) and chilled out a bit with some Netflix before going to sleep!
