From France with Love

I left Lorraine's at 8.30 am as I wanted to be home by lunch time, and didn't want to get caught up in the traffic again.  Anyway, although it was busy, I had a good journey and was home at 11.15 am.

I was greeted with this lovely package from France, inside is a vintage French house number for putting on the 'Palace'.  We'd looked for one both times we were in France, and could only find the stick on plastic ones, so decided to wait and look online.  I found a little shop on Etsy called La Belle Ville, who specialise in Vintage numbers from the 1970's and fortunately she had our number.  The packaging was done with a lot of care and is very unique, being wrapped in what looks to be a page out of a very old dictionary or encyclopedia, with a hand written note, tied with string and a bay leaf.  I'm not sure what the significance of a bay leaf is, but I like it.

After lunch we walked across the Tye (the fields at the back of us) and went to The Tye Fest.  We haven't been before but it's held every September, so we thought we'd go and have a see what was there. It was mainly for children though as there were lots of fairground rides and food stalls although there was a stage set up for bands.   There had been a car boot sale in the morning and some cars were still there so we went to have a look and bought a couple of things for the 'palace'.

We then walked down to the beach and had a drink before heading home, and I spent the rest of the afternoon doing some more painting on Uncle John's cabinet.  It's ready for its final coat of paint tomorrow and then the new backing can be fitted and the glass put back.  I can't wait to see it finished!

We were planning to go to the firework display on the Tye last night, but the weather turned and it was very windy and rainy, so we didn't bother.  I thought they would be cancelled to be honest, but at 9pm we heard them and it looked like a really good display as they were really lighting up the sky.
