Today we went to the National Railway Museum at York, we were last here together in 2010. I've taken lots of photos but I thought I'd give you this record holder. In July, 1938 this engine was recorded as travelling at just shy of 126 MPH at Stoke Bank, just outside Grantham, and that remains a world record. the engine was four months old and the driver was 61. It's claimed that he climbed onto the footplate and turned his cap back-to-front because George Formby had done that in "No Limits" , a 1935 film in which Formby wins the Isle of Man TT (sorry - that should have had a spoiler alert.............)

After the museum we went for a stroll around York in the sun - it's been very warm and generally wonderful.
