Sights of Southampton

Slept like logs :-)

We decided that a trip into town was in order today, as the weather has cooled down and the odd shower was forecast. Rather than faff around with car parks we took the bus!

It was any easy and short journey over the Itchen Bridge into Southampton city centre.
We popped into one or two shops but the guys were soon disinterested so a walk around the city walls, checking out the Marwells Zany Zebras trail as we went. These were two of my favourites, one on West Esplanade and the turquoise one in St. Michaels Square. More info here if you're interested.

By the way, there are three zebras in this collage ;-)

We also came across this interesting art installation inside the red telephone boxes, besides the city walls, another link FYI.

Then after a quick pit stop in the Red Lion pub, where hub, Sis and BiL drank 40+ years ago, we had a lovely Italian meal for lunch before crossing the road into Holyrood Church, the oldest in Southampton.......link below.

We walked a fair few steps today, really enjoyable, before we hopped back on the bus, over the bridge and back to their house late afternoon. We also saw the Independence of the Seas in dock, and heard her horn as the ship departed her berth!

Hub is out this evening for his school reunion....so I will be his driver. Pick up just been booked for 11pm ;-)

Looks like tomorrow is going to be a washout weather wise.....hey ho!
