Dumbarton Rock Bouldering

Perfect summer evening for a spot of bouldering at Dumbarton Rock. The 'Big Rock' lies some thirty minutes west of Glasgow and is the mecca for hard climbing in Scotland.

Bouldering is a sub-genre of rock climbing that focuses on movement in relatively safe conditions without the constraints of harness, ropes and other equipment. We take 'mobile' crash pads with us to place in the landing zone and make falling off more safe.

All of the established climbs have names and grades which inevitably leads to benchmarking of performance and encourages friendly competition among friends...

I climbed one of my projects tonight (I got to the top of a climb for the first time) which is nice as it doesn't happen too often. It's called the 1990's Traverse and is graded Font 7b.
