Just lion around

Another day and 2 more game drives....sadly though no hippos!!!!!

It's just nature at its best; the other couple we met in Hermanus have seen hippos 3 times but still haven't seen buffalo or rhinos, so it's right place right time.
We heard the hippos tonight, they sounded very much like the pigs from the angry birds game!

This morning the first thing we saw was a black rhino which apparently is a huge deal; our ranger says he only usually spots one once or twice a week. He scarpered before I could get a good photo (the rhino, not the ranger).

We've also seen today a herd of around 10 elephants, a mum and baby white rhino, a family of giraffes and the highlight of the day was the male lion in the blip.

He was hard to see initially; we could just see a hind leg poking up in the bush, but with a bit of expert manoeuvring from Allen, we got a clear view of him. Allen explained that we weren't in any danger as the lions don't know that we are made of meat so really aren't bothered by our presence.

The game drives are really good fun, it's like being on a ride at Alton Towers and driving through the remote gates is similar to Jurassic Park!

We've one more game drive in the morning so I'm hoping, praying and crossing every part of my body that Allen comes good and finds me a hippo.

Tomorrow is our last full day here (we leave Kariega and drive to Port Elizabeth) so I'm more than a little bit sad that our holiday is drawing to a close.
Time to work hard think of the money and save for the next one!
