Roll With It

Another Great Day

We were all up early today, breakfasted and on the road by 07:00 in order to get to Pearl Harbour early.
Even arriving at 08:00 or so we were booked on the 10:30 boat out to the USS Arizona, that gave us two and a quarter hours to look around and take in the museums and exhibits. The audio tours were worth every penny and not only prevented a barrage of questions from the children but were informative.
Eventually after a film presentation of the events of 7th December 1941 we went by boat to the memorial itself.
Despite the hustle and bustle of the other 149 people with me I found it very tranquil and calm. When we arrived back on shore and completed the tour I was amazed to find it gone 12:00. After the inevitable gift shop stop we returned to the 'condo' for homemade BBQ'd burgers and hot dogs - very nice.
We then set off for Makaha Beach on the Leeward side to spend the afternoon swimming which I did, spending three continuous hours in the water!!
This was followed by dinner at a roadside 'chuck out' in Waianae, still very tasty though, this was followed by my first Starbucks of this holiday. A scoop of Hawaiian Mud Pie and Mint Choc Chip ice cream in an edible bowl at 'Two Scoops' of Ko Olina almost finished the day, however I am now sitting and drinking Longboard Island Lager, this too is very good - until tomorrow - Aloha
