High Cup Nick
We got a lovely day for our walk. The cycle was only 3 miles but turned out to be mainly uphill, steeply, uphill, so I ended up,pushing the bike. Nice on the way back though!
The walk was uphill most of the way from Dunston, firstly on an old farm track, then the Pennine Way path. It was only 3 miles bur felt longer as it was 2 mikes slogging up till the beautiful formations came into view. There is a U-shaped glaciated valley, and the "Nick" is the bit at the head of the valley where the stream falls over steeply. It as stunning.
The return was very pleasant. We met a couple coming up, about 2/3 of the way up, wondering if they were nearly there. We said they'd see it soon!
I felt pretty tired at the end - I think the bike pushing did for me! A cup of tea and a read of the Guardian soon revived me.
The foot bore up well with me keeping the painkillers topped up. Injection day tomorrow so an early start to get home for it.
