Eucalyptus

Today's the day ......................... for a comeback

We used to have a eucalyptus tree in the garden.

We planted it because we like the colour and the shape of its leaves - and for a few years it grew well.  But it began to be shaded out by other trees, particularly a big silver birch, and eventually it died.  Or so we thought.

We cut it down which was quite exciting because it had grown quite tall - and there were only the two of us doing the felling.  Will chopped it all up into logs which provided a welcome supply for our wood-burning stove - and we thought that was the end of it.

But life in the natural world has a way of clinging on.  Lo and behold the tree stump has produced new shoots and leaves which look just like - this ........................
