Will and Belair House

Today's the day ........................ for an exhibition

Travelled down to London - for a variety of reasons which will appear in due course - but the main destination today was a much-anticipated exhibition of the watercolours of John Singer Sargent, one of Will's favourite artists.

The exhibition has been running in Dulwich Picture Gallery since 21 June and has been highly acclaimed by critics and public alike.  I have to say it didn't disappoint us either and we very much enjoyed our visit.  Will was full of inspiration and was itching to do some painting himself.  So on our way back to the station, he did exactly that.

This is the imposing facade of Belair House, originating from 1785 as the home  of John Willes, a maize farmer of Whitechapel, who erected a house, possibly with help from Robert Adam.  It's now a very smart restaurant. You can see what Will made of it here . . . . . . .
