Tuesday: Okanagan Valley
I had to be up at 0430 this morning to catch an early flight from Victoria to Kelowna. The royals were also in Kelowna today but I didn't have anything to do with that.
The reason I was there was to visit a wood pellet factory - it was actually very interesting. It's a factory that produces wood pellets from sawdust that would normally be burnt up as waste. Massive amounts of these pellets are shipped to the UK where they go to an energy plant in Yorkshire. They are then used a fuel to supply energy - all completely sustainable. In essence, this particular plant supplies 1% of the UK's fuel.
We then stopped off in this very beautiful spot for lunch, overlooking the Okanagan valley.
Then a flight back to Vancouver and home in reasonable time.
