Well as some of you may remember from my last blip, my dear friend Basile was transfered yesterday as planned, to a Paris hospital, specialised in heart surgery, in preparation for his life saving operation organised for this morning. Well I am pleased to say that I was able to keep all my promises made to him previously, in that I was able to be with him at the time of the transfer, I was able to follow the ambulance into Paris (with some difficulty I must add!) so that I was with him upon his arrival. I was also able to stay with him in his room until late last night. This morning I arrived at the hospital early, in time to be with him when they took him down to the operating theatre. I accompanied him in the lift and through many corridoors, until we reached the entrance to the operating theatre. The operation took three and a half hours, and at 12h30 I was again by his bedside, back in intensive care, waiting for him to open his eyes after his ordeal. However, he decided to sleep, and sleep and sleep, until 16h30. My blip for today was taken during his sleeping session this afternoon, and the extra is a shot of him after he had eventually woken up, with a very deep thirst! He drank nearly a whole small bottle of water. I was able to speak with the doctors and medical team, who confirmed that the operation would seem to have been a complete success, and that all tests performed since the operation, including ECG's and an Echography, have proved very positive! Basile stated that he has no pain and felt really well. How reassured we all are to learn that everything went to plan, and that things are looking very bright for him. He will probably stay in this hospital until Monday, when he should be transfered back to the hospital from where he came. I am hoping to be able to see him again over the weekend with Anne. I am so pleased for Basile and his wife, who was so upset yesterday evening, feeling very strongly that he would not get through the operation, and that as a result, it was probably the last time she would see her husband alive, after 61 years of marriage. How distressing!. How happy she was though this evening after we gave her the upto date news. Thank you so much for all your kind thoughts and prayers these past couple of weeks, which have also surely helped him. I printed some of your comments concerning him and showed him, after explaining what blip was all about! He was so grateful for all your kind wishes. Thanks also for your patience as far as my blips are concerned. Hopefully I will now be able to spend some  time over this weekend to catch up a little. I wish you all a very nice evening and thank you as ever for your continued following.
